Course credit for internships

Students who are interested in obtaining credit for internships should first secure an internship with a provider. Once confirmed, contact Dr. Hudak, for permission to register for GEOG 4920/5900.

You will be required to compile a portfolio during the course of your internship and provide a letter of assessment from the internship provider. Both will be used to determine a "grade" for the course.

City of Denton - Administrative Intern II Recycling

SALARY RANGE
$13.25 Hourly

DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for assisting the Recycling Division with daily office operations, public information/education outreach programs, and research projects 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assists with computer operations, which includes spreadsheet design, data entry, and retrieval
  • May prepare letters, emails, and similar administrative responses and support functions upon request
  • Assists with special research studies, which includes compiling data, analyzing results, preparing reports or illustrative materials
  •  Assists with public information/education projects at schools, civic, church, non-profit or community groups; and special events. 
  • Researches information suitable for social media outreach
  • Represents organization as mascot at schools and community events
  • Communicates effectively to diverse audiences including both children and adults
  • Maintains educational and outreach materials inventory
Additional Duties: 
  • Performs other duties as assigned


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of two (2) years of college with coursework in some of the following: Environmental, Biological, or Earth Sciences; Education; Public Administration; Marketing; Social or Political Science; Business
OR
  • Two years of experience related to teaching, education, research, or collecting/compiling data.
OR
  • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Must have a valid Class “C” Driver’s License prior to employment
  • Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
  • Requires occasional evening or weekend work


PREFERENCES:
  • Upperclassman or graduate student
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or GIS applications   
  • Some knowledge of statistics and experimental design
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
