Students who are interested in obtaining credit for internships should first secure an internship with a provider. Once confirmed, contact Dr. Hudak, for permission to register for GEOG 4920/5900.

You will be required to compile a portfolio during the course of your internship and provide a letter of assessment from the internship provider. Both will be used to determine a "grade" for the course.

JOB SUMMARY
Harris Govern is seeking a part-time individual to particulate in our GIS Technician internship program. This position offers a large amount of learning and exposure to GIS related activities for Texas Appraisal districts that we serve. This individual will join our Professional Services team for the PACS Appraisal and Collection software product line and work alongside our GIS Technicians. GIS Technicians are responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining digital parcel layers and editing attribute data using ArcGIS software from information located on deeds, plats, and surveys, ensuring the delivery of high quality data and customer satisfaction, identifying problems and resolving them in a timely manner and building and maintaining strong working relationships. The individual selected for this role will be a highly energetic self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment. This position requires current enrollment in an accredited school curriculum with an emphasis in GIS related technologies.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performing large amounts of editing and database queries on GIS parcel layers based on information located on deeds, plats, and surveys.
• Reading and interpreting metes and bounds descriptions and associating them with parcel identification numbers.
• Researching legal documents.
• Working with other GIS Technicians in department.
• Completing assigned tasks on-time with a high level of quality.
• Identifying and resolving problems in a timely, efficient, and effective manner.
• Having courteous customer service and professional interaction with fellow employees
• Working hours are flexible and adjusted around school class schedules.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of demonstrated work experience and technical background with ArcGIS and Microsoft desktop software applications, and a high level of initiative, aptitude, and energy in order to succeed in a fast-paced environment. Job Description
The Research and Information Services Department of the North Central Council of Governments seeks a GIS intern to assist in the development and quality control of various GIS layers. Duties include data collection, formatting, and entry; maintenance and editing of databases and GIS files; assistance with various technical and administrative assignments; and basic research assistance.  GIS experience and familiarity with ArcGIS is required.  The ability to follow instructions precisely, communicate clearly, and work independently is also required. A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and SQL is preferred.       Responsible for providing assistance to the watershed department in daily operations.
