Course credit for internships

Course credit for internships

Students who are interested in obtaining credit for internships should first secure an internship with a provider. Once confirmed, contact Dr. Hudak, for permission to register for GEOG 4920/5900.

You will be required to compile a portfolio during the course of your internship and provide a letter of assessment from the internship provider. Both will be used to determine a "grade" for the course.

Summer geoscience tech position

I work for Greyfox Energy Partners, a small oil and gas exploration firm with offices in Bartonville, just south of Denton. We have a part/full time geoscience tech summer position that we'd like to advertise with UNT  Earth Science majors or graduates.

We're a small company so the candidate should expect flexible job responsibilities that might include:

·         Support of geological and geophysical subsurface mapping
·         Scan/digitize logs and map
·         Import well data, economics, satellite images to interpretative software
·         Research and organize industry publications, update library
·         Review and file well/operations reports
·         Maintain server backup and provide IT support
·         Order office supplies

Applicants should have strength in the MS Office platform, experience in digital editing software and a willingness to learn our interpretive software, IHS Kingdom. Students with some geologic coursework are encouraged to apply as this position will provide a thorough introduction into the upstream sector of the petroleum industry.
