Intern - Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center, Sustainability Office, City of Denton

SALARY: $10.00 - $15.00 Hourly OPENING DATE: 08/26/16   CLOSING DATE: 09/02/16 11:59 PM   JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for assisting the Sustainability in all day-to-day operations   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist Sustainability in operation of Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center Open Building and oversee site during Denton ISD field trips Evaluate and communicate trail conditions for field trips and for maintenance report Monitor supplies, water (drinking and rainwater), provide list of supplies to supervisor in timely manner Assist with volunteer scheduling at nature center and volunteer projects Assist with Sustainable Schools Assists special research studies, which includes compiling data, analyzing results, preparing reports or illustrative materials, and recommending proposed actions Under direct supervision, may assist with routine operations of the department Assists with computer operations, which includes data entry and retrieval Assists with customer inquiries and complaints Prepares memoranda, letters, and similar administrative responses upon request Answers telephone, refers and direct calls, answers routine inquiries, runs errands, and performs other department support functions upon request Professional appearance required Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of one (1) year of college coursework Core Competencies:                                           Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance   CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 30 days of hire per state law) Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check   Applicants must satisfy all conditions of employment as outlined in the position announcement.
