The Science to Achieve
Results (STAR) Fellowships is open to master’s and doctoral students pursuing
degrees in environmental fields of study. This program encourages the
development of the next generation of scientific and technical talent in the U.S.
Oak Ridge
Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) is assisting EPA in the development
of a database of faculty, researchers and professionals with demonstrated
accomplishments in research areas related to the EPA’s mission. These
individuals may be asked to serve as reviewers for the STAR program. ORISE
will be managing the review of applications in collaboration with the EPA.
Applications being reviewed
will consist of 10-15 pages including academic history, a research proposal,
and three letters of recommendation. You will be assigned 18-20
applications to review. The initial review of eligible applications will be
completed via a web-based system followed by an On-site Panel Review Meeting
inWashington, D.C. This will be a two day meeting tentatively scheduled
for the first part of March. Travel arrangements and reimbursement of
expenses will be handled by ORISE. A modest honorarium for your
participation will also be provided.
Reviewers will be contacted
in January to confirm their selection as reviewers and to verify their
availability to serve during the scheduled review period.
