Course credit for internships

Students who are interested in obtaining credit for internships should first secure an internship with a provider. Once confirmed, contact Dr. Hudak, for permission to register for GEOG 4920/5900.

You will be required to compile a portfolio during the course of your internship and provide a letter of assessment from the internship provider. Both will be used to determine a "grade" for the course.

North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) - GIS Intern

Job Description
The Research and Information Services Department of the North Central Council of Governments seeks a GIS intern to assist in the development and quality control of various GIS layers. Duties include data collection, formatting, and entry; maintenance and editing of databases and GIS files; assistance with various technical and administrative assignments; and basic research assistance.  GIS experience and familiarity with ArcGIS is required.  The ability to follow instructions precisely, communicate clearly, and work independently is also required. A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and SQL is preferred. This position requires the individual be engaged in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited college or university with an emphasis in Urban Planning, Geography or GIS.  This position will work a flexible work schedule of up to 30 hours per week.  Starting pay for this part-time position is $11.86 per hour.

  • Experience in Arc GIS editing environment as well as Geo-processing tools
