Responsible for providing assistance to the watershed department in daily operations.
- Assist in routine monitoring of watershed
- Assists in construction, deployment, calibration, maintenance and recovery of stream monitoring equipment
- Assists with collecting, processing and analyzing water quality data
- Develops and performs public outreach activities that may include public schools, special interest groups and neighborhood associations
- Assists the Watershed Protection Division with research/literature review of relevant Best Management Practices (BMPs) to protect water quality in the Denton area
- Field duties include: rapid habitat assessments, quantitative habitat surveys, and benthic macroinvertebrate sampling. Lab work can include database entry and management, benthic macroinvertebrate sorting and identification, and calibration of instruments
- Applicants should demonstrate knowledge and/or experience in stream assessments using a rapid bioassessment method
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or related degree
- Two years college coursework to include one year of science-based coursework
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license within 30 days of hire per state law)
- Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
- Must pass a physical examination
- Must be able to work overtime when requested
- Must be able to work in all kinds of weather
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
