The USGS Wetland and Aquatic Research Center in Lafayette, Louisiana will be advertising for a full-time remote sensing specialist in the near future. The start date for the position is July 1. The applicant should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, remote sensing, GIS, or a related field. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Some of the duties of this job will include:
- object-based land cover classification of barrier island habitats using high resolution aerial photography,
- spatial analyses (e.g., developing statistics based on spatial location of features, developing new datasets though compilation of existing data, exploring patterns in spatial data, etc.),
- GIS data maintenance,
- review of scientific literature,
- preparation of figures, tables, and written reports.
