Course credit for internships

Students who are interested in obtaining credit for internships should first secure an internship with a provider. Once confirmed, contact Dr. Hudak, for permission to register for GEOG 4920/5900.

You will be required to compile a portfolio during the course of your internship and provide a letter of assessment from the internship provider. Both will be used to determine a "grade" for the course.

Trinity River Authority - Hydraulic Modeler

Position Title:Engineer, Hydraulic Modeler

Category:Planning and Environmental Services

Location:Arlington - General Office

Description:The TRA Planning and Environmental Services department is looking for a highly-qualified and driven engineer to work on wastewater collection system, in-plant, and water distribution hydraulic modeling. This individual will work closely with wastewater and water supply engineers and operations staff to provide model results to support ongoing projects and future planning efforts. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in wastewater collection, in-plant, and water supply distribution hydraulic modeling. Responsibilities: 1. Performs modeling tasks as needed for InfoWorks CS, InfoWorks ICM, and H2OMAP Water models. 2. Provides engineering support for: A. Wastewater collection and water distribution systems; B. Model evaluations; C. Field investigations; and D. Planning and design projects. 3. Provides timely completion and submission of project deliverables. 4. Works closely with the GIS department on data management and data QA duties. 5. Works on multiple, unique assignments simultaneously with strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills. 6. Strong reporting skills, both written and verbal. 7. Other engineering duties as assigned to support TRA operation and projects.

Requirements:Education and Training: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering. Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Proficiency with InfoWorks, H2OMA Water, ESRI Arc GIS, and MS Office. Knowledge of HEC-RAS and Replica strongly preferred. Valid Texas Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one. Preferred Qualifications: Licensure as a professional engineer. Collection system modeling, planning, and design experience with large and operationally-complex systems.
