Course credit for internships

Course credit for internships

Students who are interested in obtaining credit for internships should first secure an internship with a provider. Once confirmed, contact Dr. Hudak, for permission to register for GEOG 4920/5900.

You will be required to compile a portfolio during the course of your internship and provide a letter of assessment from the internship provider. Both will be used to determine a "grade" for the course.

Research Internships - Earth Sciences

Research Experiences in the Solid Earth Sciences for Students (RESESS) is an 11-week paid internship program based in Boulder, Colorado, in which interns do research on a project of interest to them with a scientist at the U.S. Geological Survey, University of Colorado, NOAA, or UNAVCO. Topics include geology, geomorphology, hydrology, seismology, paleoclimatology, glaciology, geophysics, geodesy and more. The program includes a writing class, mentoring, field trips, and a supportive community. RESESS provides travel to Boulder, housing, a competitive salary, and a partial scholarship for the following academic year. This program is intended to increase diversity in the geoscience workforce by supporting students from underrepresented groups on their path to graduate school, and encourages applications from Native Americans, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and disabled Americans.
